Welcome to the 2012 Ypsilanti Heritage Festival!

For over 30 years, the Heritage Festival has brought our community together to share our history, culture, food, arts and the company of our neighbors. For 2012, we will bring you even more of what makes our community great!

This year’s festival will feature Ypsilanti area artists, performers, and musicians, many of whom travel the around the country and around the world, performing for their friends and neighbors. Our main entertainment stage will be moving to the Riverside Beer Garden, under the Big Top, where we can present performers all the way until midnight (don’t worry, families are welcome inside!). Casino Gambling will return to the festival as well, housed in its own tent adjacent to the Big Top in the Beer Garden.  The Gazebo Stage on the banks of the Huron River will feature a wide range of community performances throughout the day, with more entertainment in the Family Tent and throughout the festival!

Heritage Festival has always remembered the history of our community, and for 2012 we will be joining the nation in observing the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. Using the American historical traditions of Chautauqua, or living history, we will explore the role that Michigan and Ypsilanti played in a conflict pivotal in turning our nation into a world leader.

Celebrating with community. It’s why we have a Heritage Festival to begin with. For 2012 we will have all the great things you remember about the a community festival, the arts and crafts, midway foods, and community organizations. And, through partnerships with Ypsilanti based youth organizations like Community Records, we’ll have more free activities for families and folks of all ages than ever before!

We welcome you to the 2012 Ypsilanti Heritage Festival, celebrating the history and culture of our community for all to see!
